Tyrone Girls Indoor Heat 1
The first heat of the annual Cumann na mBunscol 5-a-side Girls football for primary schools was held today in Loughview Sports Centre in Dungannon . A total of 6 local schools entered teams for this qualifying heat, which produced a tremendously high level of skill and competition from all involved.
- Roan St. Patrick's Eglish
- St. Mary's Aughnacloy
- St. Patrick's Dungannon
- St. John's Moy
- St. Mary's Cabragh
- Edendork Primary School
In remarkable similarity to the boys' competition, an identical final result occurred.
After a very competitive first series of games the very gallant Edendork and Aughnacloy girls bowed out.
St. John's Moy and St. Patrick's Dungannon played out a classic semi final with the Moy team emerging victorious with a last minute goal.
The second semi-final was also keenly contested, with the Roan St.Patricks PS girls outlasting St. Mary's Cabragh in a tremendous battle.
The level of expectation and anticipation was high for the final. The game itself lived up to all pre-match expectations. Both teams played some tremendous football and displayed a full-blooded effort.
St. John's Moy eventually overcame the Eglish girls to qualify for the county finals.
Our thanks to top Tyrone player , Meabh Mallon for her expert officiating, and to DUY for the use of their excellent facilities.
