Indoor Hurling & Camogie’ Heat 2: Loughview

Attention switched to Dungannon’s superb Loughview Centre for Heat 2 and the next instalment of our 2020 ‘Indoor Hurling & Camogie’ competition. Nineteen teams did battle in a series of group matches across both codes.

Participating schools in Camogie included St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon; Gaelscoil Eoghain An Chorra Críche; Edendork P.S., and St. Patrick’s P.S. Donaghmore. These schools played bravely but, despite giving their all, narrowly missed-out on qualifying for the semi-finals. St. Patrick’s P.S. Mullinahoe, Ardboe, and Gaelscoil Aodha Rua, Dún Geanainn, did superbly to make the semi’s. However, 2 schools seemed to be just a little bit stronger on the day: Derrylatinee St. Francis’ P.S. and Roan P.S. Eglish (current Co. Champions). Congratulations to both of these schools on making the county camogie final. The high level of skill displayed by all 8 schools was a joy to behold, indeed. Maith sibh!

Meanwhile, the Hurling competition saw 11 schools lock horns in 2 interesting sections. St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon; St. Malachy’s P.S. Glencull; Donaghmore; Edendork; Gaelscoil Eoghain; Derrylatinee and St. Mary’s P.S. Aughnacloy all had hard luck when they missed-out on a semi-final berth. Advancing to the semi-finals were St. Patrick’s P.S. Mullinahoe, Ardboe, and St. Mary’s P.S. Cabragh. Despite Ardboe and Cabragh playing brilliantly, it was Roan P.S. and Gaelscoil Aodha Rua, Dún Geanainn who reached the Co. Final.

A huge word of thanks to Joe McAree who had everything prepared for us as usual. Thanks, also, to Ethan McNally & Damhlaic Rush for officiating so expertly, and Mickey Quinn for coordinating events on the day.

We wish all qualifiers the very best of luck for the Co. finals. Ádh mór oraibh!
