Boys Indoor Heat – Station Centre Omagh

26th Feb 2026

A brilliant day of indoor Gaelic football unfolded this week at the Station Centre, Omagh, as the Tír Eoghain Cumann na mBunscoil Boys Indoor 5‑a‑Side Competition brought together schools from Strabane, Castlederg, Omagh and Carrickmore. The atmosphere was lively, the football fast‑paced, and the standard of play exceptionally high from the first throw‑in to the final whistle.

From the outset, the boys displayed remarkable levels of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Their movement, passing, tackling and finishing were a joy to watch, and the attitude shown by every single player was exemplary. Throughout the day they played with determination, fairness and great respect for each other, their opponents and the officials — a true credit to their schools and families.

Under the steady and experienced eye of Intercounty Referee Kieran Eanetta (Tyrone GAC), the games flowed brilliantly. Kieran ensured every match was well‑managed and enjoyable, allowing the boys’ talent and enthusiasm to shine.

The competition was structured into two exciting groups of four teams, with every game tightly contested. Spectators were treated to end‑to‑end football, last‑second blocks, brilliantly taken scores and some fantastic goalkeeping displays. Several matches came right down to the wire, with teams giving everything for their schools right up to the final seconds.

After a superb series of group games, the day built towards a thrilling final between St. Colmcille’s PS, Carrickmore and St. Conor’s PS, Omagh.

St. Conor’s played outstanding football throughout the tournament and were unlucky to miss out in the decider despite a brave, committed performance. They can hold their heads high after representing their school with real pride and quality.

In the end, it was St. Colmcille’s PS, Carrickmore who edged ahead to claim victory, producing a strong team display filled with sharp attacking play and disciplined defending. Congratulations to the Carrickmore boys on their well‑deserved win — and we wish them the very best of luck as they progress to the Boys Indoor County Finals on the 12th of March at MUSA, Cookstown.

A huge word of thanks must go to all the principals, teachers and classroom assistants who continue to give so much of their time to support Tír Eoghain Cumann na mBunscoil. Their ongoing commitment ensures that children across the county have fantastic opportunities to compete, develop their skills, and proudly represent their schools.

Well done to all teams involved — including St. Mary’s PS Melmount (Strabane), Holy Family Omagh, St Catherine’s Strabane, St Mary’s PS Killyclogher, St Conor’s PS Omagh, St Dympna’s Dromore, St Colmcille’s PS Carrickmore, and St Patrick’s PS Castlederg.

A thoroughly enjoyable day of exciting football, played in the very best spirit of Cumann na mBunscoil.
