ALLIANZ CUMANN Na mBUNSCOL

BOYS’ INDOOR FOOTBALL HEAT 7: Loughview

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol held the seventh heat of the annual 5-a-side Boys’ Indoor Gaelic Football for primary schools today in the superb Loughview Centre, Dungannon. Nine local schools entered teams for this qualifying heat, which produced a scintillating level of skill.

The format of the day’s play was based on two sections (A & B) of 4 & 5 school teams, respectively. Huge credit goes to the teams from Blessed Patrick O’ Loughran P.S. Castlecaulfield; Gaelscoil Aodha Rua, Dún Geanainn; St. Mary’s P.S. Aughnacloy; Edendork P.S. and St. Joseph’s P.S. Caledon, - all of whom battled bravely in competition but fell just short of qualifying for the semi-finals despite their valiant efforts. These players were extremely worthy representatives of their schools and local clubs. Well done, lads!

Section ‘A’ saw Roan St. Patrick’s P.S. top the group with St. Francis’ P.S. Derrylatinee runners-up. Both schools qualified for the semi-finals.

In Section ‘B’, St. John’s P.S. Moy topped the section and reached the semi-finals. St. Patrick’s P.S. Dungannon also sealed a semi-final berth as Section ‘B’ runners-up.

Both semi-finals saw convincing wins for the respective section winners, Roan and Moy. Dungannon and Derrylatinee both battled heroically but it just wasn’t to be their day in terms of reaching the final. Nevertheless, it was great stuff from both teams.

St. John’s P.S. Moy and Roan St. Patrick’s P.S. played in the Heat final. Both teams played their part in a superb final. Ultimately, though, Master Grimley’s Roan side overcame Master Campbell’s brave Moy lads – but St. John’s can be very proud of their tremendous efforts on the day. Meanwhile, a well-earned Tyrone Indoor Football County Final spot awaits the Roan lads in mid-March. We wish them well. Ádh mór oraibh.

A huge word of thanks goes to our referee Sean McCartan and to the man who always has everything ready for us at Loughview Centre, Joe McAree. Patrick McGivern (Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Thír Eoghain) ensured the smooth running of the games. A great day was had by all. Maith sibh.
