Allianz Cumann na mBunscol 5-a-side Boys’ Indoor Gaelic Football heat

26th Feb 2024

Today's indoor 5 aside boys' football heat took place in the Loughview Sports centre in Dungannon and featured teams from St. John's Moy, St. Mary's Cabragh, St. Patrick's Dungannon, St. Mary's Aughnacloy, Edendork PS, Roan St. Patrick's PS Eglish and Derrylatinee PS. In an action packed morning, each school played each other once and the top four teams then went forward to the semi-finals. Moy topped the group with Eglish and Edendork making up the second and third placed teams. Dungannon and Aughnacloy finished level on points but Dungannon took the last semi-final place due to a better goal difference.

In the first semi-final Moy continued on their rich vein of form and despite a valiant effort by Dungannon, Moy were worthy winners. It was a much closer affair in the second semi-final with the Eglish boys narrowly coming out on top.

Moy against Eglish is usually a close hard fought affair and today was no different. The tackling, blocking and competitive football was first class and at the end of the game Moy came out on top. Commiserations to the Eglish lads and well done to the Moy team who will compete in the County Final next week.

Martin Devlin was our referee for the day and as usual he contributed to a wonderful morning of football.

Thank you to all the schools involved and to Cumann na mBunscol representatives, Stephen Mone, James Grimley and Seamus McCreesh.
